     The first museum in Vojvodina was founded by The Matica Srpska Society in 1847. for the protection of "all antiques and values". The Museum of Matica Srpska Society has been reconstructed in 1933, and in 1947 it became today's Vojvodina Museum with the complex character, for archeology, history, ethnology and cultural history of Vojvodina. City museums are in Novi Sad, Vrsac, Sombor, Zrenjanin, Pancevo, Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica, Senta, Kikinda and Sremski Karlovci. The museums' collections are existing in Zabalj, Ruski Krstur and Backi Petrovac and the memorial museums in Sremska Kamenica, dedicated to the poet Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj, and in Kovilj monastery, dedicated to the historian Jovan Rajic.

     There is a constant exhibition of the antique furniture in Celarevo, as the dependency of the Vojvodina Museum. The memorial exhibition of the artist Hristofor Zefarovic is arranged in the Bodjani monastery, in Sremska Mitrovica the museum called "Robija-skola revolucionara", and there is a natural science collection of the Regional Institute for the protection of the enviroment in the Petrovaradin Fortress. There are the museum's settings in home towns of well-known Vojvodinians such as those in Idvor, home town of scientist Mihajlo Pupin, in Srpska Crnja of poet and painter Djura Jaksic and in Taras of national hero Svetozar Markovic Toza. There is a homeland museum in the village of Cerevic. The Theater Museum of Vojvodina was founded at the beginning of eighties in Novi Sad.
