Posle zaključka da je i treći novosadski most teško oštećen i onesposobljen za sve vrste saobraćaja, u trenutku kada su radnici vodovoda radili na spajanju oštećenih cevi za snabdevanje sremske strane vodom, u po bela dana sa 4 projektila ponovo je raketiran Žeželjov most.
Prvi hitac promašio je most i pao je u Dunav, tako da su se radnici razbežali pre drugog projektila koji je pogodio samo središte mosta gde je već ranije bio oštećen. Posle ovog napada usledio je i drugi koji je iznenadio mnoštvo znatiželjnika koji su izašli na kej. Dve sledeće detonacije mnogo jače od prethodnih odjeknule su gradom i rasule ogromnu količinu gelera na razdaljinu od 1,5 km.
Tri rakete pogodile su most u vitalnu tačku iznad centralnog stuba.
Nema više dileme da cilj napada nije oštećenje mosta i prekid saobraćaja, već samo rušenje ovog kapitalnog objekta. Ovaj napad snimila je TV-Novi Sad, kao i mnoštvo amatera i fotoreportera koji su se nalazili na Dunavskom keju. Posle 3 napada i 7 direktnih pogodaka ova betonska lepotica postaje simbol otpora za žitelje Novog Sada. |
Even though the third bridge in Novi Sad was seriously damaged and practically out of use for any kind of traffic, it was bombed again. Zezelj bridge was hit by four bombs in the middle of the day while the waterworks repair crews were working on the bridge, trying to patch up water pipes which supply the Srem side with water.
The first bomb missed the bridge and fell into the river so the workers had a chance to run away before the second missile hit the very centre of the bridge, which had been damaged earlier. After the first attack the second one was following and surprised the people who were standing on the banks. The next two detonations, more powerful than before shook the city and spread a downpoor of srapnels all over the diametre of 1,5 km. Three bombs hit the bridge into its vital point, right above the central column.
There is no doubt now that the aim of the attacks is not to damage the bridge enough to stop the traffic but to completely destroy this major work of architecture. The attack was filmed by TV Novi Sad, as well as by numerous amateur photographers who were on the banks at that time.
After three attacks and seven direct hits this concrete beauty became a symbol of resistance for all the citizens of Novi Sad. |
