 Nedugo posle ubedljive pobede naše rukometne reprezentacije nad reprezentacijom Hrvatske na Svetskom prvenstvu, svi mediji doneli su dugo iščekivanu informaciju o zaključenju mira na Balkanu. Uspešan završetak pregovora o rešavanju Kosovskog pitanja izazvao je spontano slavlje na ulicama i trgovima Novog Sada. Na hiljade mladih izašlo je na obasjane ulice grada i uz pesmu i kompletnu pirotehniku uveličali ovaj događaj. Prekid bombardovanja uneo je novu nadu u nastavak normalnog života i optimizam da će se prebroditi sve buduće teškoće u obnovi zemlje.

 Not long after the victory of our handball team over the team of Croatia at the World championship, all the media transmitted long awaited news about the conclusion of peace on the Balkans. Successful ending of the talks on the solution of the Kosovo crisis triggered spontaneous celebration in the streets and the squares of Novi Sad. Thousands of young people took to the shining streets of the city and with song and fireworks made the event really special. The cessation of the bombing brought new hope in the restoration of normal life and optimism that all the forthcoming difficulties in the reconstruction of the country will be overcome.
